Busy and Trying to Remember!!

Well these past 2 weeks have been crazy busy...I have been teaching most of the day at school and it has been crazy!! I've been getting lesson plan after lesson plan done. Aside from that I've had a crazy personal life on top of all of that..All I can say it I am praying to God that things go back to normal. School has been good...busy but good...the kids are getting more and more used to me being in charge and thats really all I can ask for. What I've had the hardest trouble with lately is remembering to make copies of things or even where I put things. I lost my very first paper this past week and I thought I was gonna go crazy. I also signed up for one more Bilingual Exam and lets just say the prices went way way up compared to last year! I am currently working on next weeks UNIT PLANS and then on lessons for the last week of my first placement. This coming Thursday I have my last observation for this time period....lets hope it goes well. For those that read this please pray for us that things can get back to normal and that school continues going well for me!!

1st teaching (week 3) and being windblown!!

I taught this week for the first time alone. We did calendar math and spelling/phonics!! It was certainly an interesting experience especially the days I did in Spanish!! If you know kids since it rained pretty much all week they need some type of movement to express their energy! I had to modify my lesson plans so that they were active, the first day we played duck duck goose, the 2nd day we play "El Salto Ferzo" where we pretended to be Leaping Lions!! Each lesson was either over spelling or the syllables we learned this past week. Thursday I gave my first spelling test and the results were astonishing!! Friday I gave the sight word/ syllables test and I was a bit more pleased wth those results! This next week I will start teaching the entire Language Arts block and Monday I have my first observation from my McMurry Supervisor!!! YIKES!! But on a really good note McMurry decided that I could stay in my first placement until the end of the semester...even though I won't be getting paid like I wanted as the sub for my class I will however get the experience of managing the class alone!! We got to go to the fair yesterday and so that my niece would ride this one ride I had to ride it with her and her friend...yeah how I got suckered into riding alone I don't know!! We rode the ORBITER which rotates you in the air...yeah lets just say I held on for dear life so that I wouldn't slide around in my chair!

Oh the Possibilities!!

Well I officially survived the 2nd week of Student Teaching. I was able to get more involved this week. I taught morning calendar which was fun as the kids helped walk me thru it!! It was spur of the moment cause my teacher needed to step out to go to the office. I was so excited to learn my new Spanish word for the day POPOTE meaning straw. We also got a new student which was a wonderful learning exeperience because you spend all the time before school getting folders ready, labeling desk and books and then in a matter of minutes you need to catch a student up to where the rest of the class is. So needless to say I got crayons, books, notebooks, sticker, desk name tags, chore star and spelling/phonics papers ready!! When we asked him where he was from he told us Hollywood I just love kids imaginations. Aside from impromptu teaching this week I also started planning my lesson plans for next week. Let me just say it is time consuming. I have lesson plans to start for the week after also but I'm excited I've decided to teach the kids LEAVES-FALL for my 3 day unit. I really think that they'll enjoy it regardless of how Texas weather really is. Perhaps the most exciting thing that happened this week was my Sub offer to teacher permanently while my teacher is out on maternity leave. Let's keep our fingers cross that it might happen because the experience alone is SOO WORTH IT!!

The 1st of 14!!

Well I survived my first week of Student Teaching!! I decided that I would start blogging how my weeks go...as David puts it so that he won't have to hear the same story 10 times! LOL...yes I've pretty much told my first week story that many times to family and friends!! I have a very intersting class and I am learning lots from them. I Student Teach in a 1st Grade Bilingual Class. All day its in Spanish...I do mean all...READING, WRITING AND SPEAKING!! My cooperating teacher is awesome she works with me and doesn't make me feel like my spanish is RUSTY!! Im my own opinion it is rusty...and according to the State of Texas I speak at an Intermediate Level. Overall though my week went great...it was tiring but GREAT!! My kids listen to me and thats always a positive sign. I start teaching next week so one more week of observing and more interaction. Having a 3 day weekend after the first week was wonderful it gave me time to rest!! Above is a picture of my first creative attempt...Its our WELCOME TREE!! I made it the day of Meet the Teacher Night!! I was limited to Brown Butcher Paper only!! Well hopefully next weekend I'll have more to say!!
